Prayer of God’s People
Dear God, we are thankful that in Christ, there are no boundaries created by age, racial, social or sexual differences. We come believing and affirming for us the Baptist life when we must own our own faith and not that of parents or people before. We pray that you continue to shape us and mold us through Jesus, who works among us, helping us to be a unified community in you.
As our church, the Body of Christ begins to prepare for 2015, we pray for each person who is being approached to serve FCBC as new officers, board and committee members that they would prayerfully consider accepting these nominations. We know, O God that you have blessed us all with incredible gifts and talents to serve through this church and into the world. We pray that as the Finance Committee prepares for us the new 2015 Church Budget for us to consider next week that we would have the faith that you have supplied us with abundance that are beyond our needs. And we pray for men and women like Ian and Alexa Heung who are being called by you to enter seminary and to become better equipped to become your servants that they would have the loving support of this community of faith.
Lord, have mercy on us when we have loved ones who are in need of your healing miracles. Continue to strengthen George Chen as he undergoes cancer treatments and with Jimmy Chen to restore his weaken body with the power of wholeness and full recovery. We pray for all people who are known only in our hearts but are in need of your grace that you would make a difference in their lives bringing forth a deeper understanding and faith in you as their Savior and Creator.
Thank you, O God for this privilege of worshiping together in peace especially as we pray for many people around this violent and fractured world who are seeking for peace and reconciliation. Teach us to study peace and not war, forgiveness and not vengeance, love and not hate, sisters and brothers of all humankind and not enemies. We pray these things not in vain but in the confidence that in Christ Jesus, love has already entered into this broken world in Jesus Christ. In his name is the reason why we pray, “Our Father…”
Benediction
Jesus asks us like he asked the tax collectors and prostitutes to change their minds and hearts. Are you willing to quit what you may be doing for Jesus today?
May the blessing of the creator God who made us to be one,
The living Christ who restores unity among us,
And the Holy Spirit of unifying power is upon us in peace. Amen.
