Prayer Concerns

*Diana Lee—bacterial ear infection for the past 4 days; on antibiotics but still feeling very sick

*Walter Tom—some improvements but still a long way to recovery

  1. Dad has been off oxygen and just using the trachea to help breath regular air and has a mist at night.
  2. Has been fitted with a mechanism so that he can now speak.
  3. Progressing in hand exercises and has begun to take a walk around the floor!
  4. Began blowing exercises to begin building up his lungs
  5. Still not able to swallow so that’s a concern – he’s still being fed liquid nutrients
  6. Still trying to be macho and not asking for pain medicine till the pain is really high – this means that it takes 15 minutes for the medicines to take effect.
  7. But he’s been MOVED OUT OF ICU and now in a regular room (Friday night)

We have been blessed to have great people to watch over Dad, and to keep up how Walt is connected to his caretakers we have connections here in Vacaville – one of Dad’s nurses is Rodney’s co-worker’s wife! (Rodney knew his coworker’s wife worked at Kaiser but didn’t know it was this Kaiser.)  God is good.

Please continue to pray for his recovery:

  1. Pain from the halo
  2. Healing for his left hand
  3. Ability to swallow and then be able to eat food
  4. Physical/Occupational Therapy
  5. Memory/Brain assessments

Cardiovascular assessments – he has had symptoms since his Halo was put on where his heartbeat drops low and sometimes there is a pause. (This may be to the medicine that he’s taking) so they don’t want to put a pacemaker in – because once a pacemaker is in it’s permanent.

*Tiffany Tom, Erin Louie, Becky Chu, Odelia To are in Mykonos, Greece and Tiffany and Erin were in a car accident. Erin had some scrapes that required a few stitches but Tiffany was injured more seriously and was hospitalized; don’t have any more details

*Search for peace in Syria; the possible international solution to controlling the chemical warfare that Syria has in its possession

Prayer of God’s People

Thanksgiving and praise are yours, Almighty God, because of your grace and mercy. You believe in us when we have ceased to believe in ourselves. We are grateful that you thought us worth finding. Keep us close within your flock. Widen the circle of our church that we may be diligent as you in drawing together the lost and those who never suspect that they need to be found.

Thank you, O God, for leading Zita Cheng to our church as our new Community Outreach Minister to wider the church of our church to include those who are un-churched and are in search for the Christ to believe.

Lord of all nations and all worlds, we have been living under the threat of war and more international conflict for the past couple of weeks with the civil war in Syria and call to reprimand Syria for having used chemical weapons on its people. We are having a sigh of relief over the news that a possible solution has been reached for the international community to take control of these chemical weapons by the middle of next year. We pray for peace and a diplomatic solution to this stand off.

While there are uncertainties in the world, there are also uncertainties in our personal lives. We continue to pray for Walter Tom who is slowly making progress from his injuries sustained from an auto accident. Grant him patience and the encouragement to believe that all will be well. Be with Diana Lee as she searches for the right antibiotics to heal her from her bacterial ear infection. Bless her and we pray that she feels better soon. We pray for our young women who are in Greece and particularly for Tiffany Tom and Erin Louie who were injured in a car accident.  May they recover from their trauma and injuries and a safe journey back home.

O God, we seek your comfort and the certainty of your power in the world especially when we see our loved ones injured and hurt. Teach us to have hope and trust when our lives are so fragile and vulnerable to forces more powerful than we are. And lead us to pray the prayer that our Lord Jesus Christ taught his disciples like us, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Thank you O God, for renewing the church and in us as American Baptists.

May the grace of Jesus overflow for you in faith and love!

To the one who reigns forever, immortal, invisible and made visible in Christ, be honor and glory forever and ever.

Amen.
