From the earliest times the church has through the symbolic act of the laying on of hands and prayer recognized God’s call to ministry, and by this act set apart men and women for the special ministries of the church.

Eternal God, you have called Lydia Yeung into ordained ministry of your church. We lift up the tradition originating from the earliest times of the church of the symbolic act of the laying on the hands from the disciples and apostles, from ministers over thousands of years and now to Rev. Sebastian Ong, to Rev. Chris Otani, to Rev. Peter Lee and to me and now to Lydia Yeung to be recognized as a servant set apart for special ministries of the church.

O God, confirm this call by your Holy Spirit as we pray and laying on the hands to ordain Lydia Yeung to Christian ministry. Grant her wisdom and insights to understand Scriptures and the power to proclaim Good News as she leads people in praise and worship. Equip her with the passion and compassion to extend a hand to reach out to neighbors, strangers, people who are homeless, people who may be different in a variety of ways from her because all people are your beloved children in need of love and care. Teach her so that she may teach others about eternal truths that provide a firm foundation to live and true facts that discern right from wrong so that the lives built on this firm foundation will be with integrity and honesty. Grace her with a heart to be a loving pastor who walks side by side with everyone as we all travel on this earth following the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Lord, keep Lydia Yeung faithful to your special calling that in your good time she may hear your words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” To this ministry of Pastor of Community Outreach Ministries, we consecrate Lydia Yeung and ourselves, that to you be given the praise and glory, now and forever. Amen.
