Prayer of God’s People

Gracious God, we have received abundantly from you. The resources you expect us to tend and share and the outlook you have instilled in believers show us that there is enough of everything, including love, for all. Today, in our worship and prayer, we proclaim your love and salvation.

As a growing and vital church, we have much to share with the world. We pray for the 18 members of the Thailand Mission Team as they make their final preparations to journey this Saturday to the hills of northern Thailand to work with villagers to bring in fresh and clean water for healthy hygiene, to share the Word of God through their vacation Bible school activities and interaction with people, and to become an unified example of your ambassadors from SF to Thailand. Grant them safe travels and good health as they serve faithfully in the days to come and we look forward to hearing stories of changed lives especially in the 18 persons who are on this trip.

Our mission outlook is not just far away but just as fervently at home when we teach the Bible to children, youth and adults in our Sunday school and weeknight Bible studies. Thank you, Lord for raising up dedicated and trained teachers who we appreciate today. Our mission at home is also through our summer Day Camp where community children hear the Good News of Jesus Christ from our staff and counselors. Guide this ministry as they plan their final week before camp starts. We also lift up in prayer Youth Camp and our summer sports teams that will all reach out to youth through learning experiences and fair play. Be with this Friday’s golf tournament as it raises scholarships to benefit all of our summer ministries.

When our health falters, we turn to you our Maker. We pray for Dr. Chuck who had an angiogram yesterday to strengthen his heart. We pray for his quick recovery so that he may continue to serve Christ all the days of his life. We pray for…

Lord, when unimaginable disasters hit, we are drawn by our compassion. May we share your bounty and your blessing, receiving more than we give, with all in or midst.  May we defy definitions and recognize our sisters and brothers among the invisible, the derided, and the disdained, who are your people and have always been yours. May we also recognize at last in ourselves that we are strangers no more because you found us, and not because of any quality of our own. Lead us, Lord to give generously and often to the One Great Hour of Sharing to help alleviate the suffering from the world’s disasters.

We praise you and thank you for your love which we will strive to share with others in all circumstances. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

In imitation of the God we serve, give food to the hungry,

Justice to the oppressed.

Set free the prisoners;

Open the eyes of the blind;

Lift up those who are bowed down.

Watch over the strangers;

Uphold the orphan and the widow.

Love the people of God,

And love God who made heaven and earth.
