Wa Sung Invocation

Wa Sung Invocation 1 26 2013

Dear Gracious God, on this festive evening and inaugural occasion in the history of the Wa Sung Community Service Club, we pray for your wisdom to guide the actions and programs of Wa Sung to fulfill its mission to meet the needs of the community. We are assembled here as laborers, workers, professionals, private and public leaders, citizens and neighbors from many businesses, various faiths, and diverse viewpoints, to lift up our thoughts of gratitude, to share our common interests and problems, and to make this community in particular and the world in general a better place for the dwelling of all people.

Cities and communities across the country and particularly here in Oakland and the East Bay are seeking for compassionate answers to persistent problems, sacrificial volunteers to lift up those who are downtrodden, and promising hope when some have given up. Infuse and empower those who have taken up the leadership of this service club with the pledge to make a difference when there’s only been talk, progress when there’s only been apathy, and change when there’s only be the status quo. To these purposes and promises, we commit ourselves.

Lord of Providence and good will, we pray that your presence will grace our table fellowships to network with each other for the purpose of working together for the common good. We give you thanks for the abundance of food to sustain us through the long but necessary days of work and service. May what we do tonight and the days ahead be acceptable in your sight so that we may follow the example of our humble servant and Savior, Lord Jesus Christ whose name we pray. Amen.
