June 7, 2009—85th Anniversary Luncheon Celebration
The First Chinese Baptist Church in San Francisco founded in 1880 congratulates the Square and Circle Club’s 85th anniversary of service to the community! We are proud to have a small part in supporting this historic organization by making some space for your regular meetings. And today, we are honored and thankful for the generous contribution that you are making to support the life-changing ministries of our church.
For 6 weeks, our church building is filled with over 100 children of that more than 60% comes from the immediate Chinatown community. Our Day Camp provides activities for children to learn how to get along with each other, enjoy the opportunities that our city offers, learn about Bible stories, and to develop meaningful relationships with their counselors and teachers that we hope will last a lifetime.
Ever since our church doors opened in 1880, we have always reached out to those who are just beginning to make America their new home. San Francisco Chinatown continues to be one of the first ports of call for Chinese immigrants. And as long as more of our new Chinese friends continue to come, our church is committed to teaching them English and citizenship classes on Friday nights. After the classes, we offer the students a free dinner followed by a time of Bible study and singing.
