Prayer of God’s People

Lord Jesus, on this day you were welcomed in triumphant procession into Jerusalem. Give us the grace, Good Lord, to welcome you into our communities. Enable us to put our trust in you as the Lord of our lives. Lead us to know you as our King above all other kings that we give our loyalty.

On this special Sunday when we welcome persons who have publicly professed their allegiance to you as they believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we give you, Lord praise and thanksgiving. We are privileged to see how you transform lives in our midst to become faithful followers of Jesus. Bless and empower the 6 persons who will join our church today to use their gifts for Christian service and encourage the rest of us to join with them in making a recommitment of giving our lives to advance your kingdom work on earth. Grant us the courage to speak out with the good news of your love for the world.

Merciful Lord, we pray for those in our community who are in need of your grace and healing. Bless Faye Wong as she rests in the hospital and address the suffering of chronic pain. Comfort and strengthen David’s resolve to continue being Faye’s loving support and caregiver knowing that he himself is at faltering health. We pray for Anne Lee’s daughter, Theresa as she fights thyroid cancer at this time; grant her mercy and the strength to persevere. Be with Anne and give her comfort and encouragement that we are always in God’s hands. We lift up…

Today we celebrate along with many across our country the reality that more people will have some level of health care. Teach us, O God to care for those who are weak and at the margins of our society. Remind us as Jesus himself showed us how important it is to have wholeness and healing. We pray for our elected leaders to put down political partisan and to work together for the good of all.

As we begin the sacredness of Holy Week, we pray that we would take the time to pray and meditate on the passion of your Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. We want to have a deeper understanding on how your love for the world has saved us from our sins. From your unconditional love, you have welcomed us home even after we have disobeyed you. Thank you, dear God for your mercy as we pray in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Jesus has passed in our midst, revealed in glory.

Go forth, palm branches waving, to tell the story!

As Jesus’ faithful disciples, be shouting stones!

Amen.
