Prayer of God’s People

Almighty God, you gave your Son Jesus a realm where all peoples, races, and nations might worship him and serve him. Give us eyes to see your kingdom taking shape before us in acts of justice, of love and kindness, in prophetic words of truth spoken to arrogant power, and in quiet deeds of charity done for those in need.

Renew our courage to follow your way, rather than the way of the world. Give us boldness to speak up when we ought to speak. Give us a willingness to go against popular approval and convention in order to be faithful to you. Make us unwilling to compromise our principles or to evade responsibility when faced with difficult decisions and tough choices. We pray for the oneness that we have as a church while at the same time, we pray for a better understanding and practice of our Baptist principles and beliefs. Lord, continue to help us to listen, to share, and to strive for understanding the mind of Christ on all matters confronting us today.

The work of the church continues for there are many who still have not heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. Be with Day Camp to keep the campers and counselors safe as they grow in faith. Empower and inspire the Thailand Mission Team as they make final preparations to represent us in a village in Northern Thailand this July. Be with our church delegates at this year’s Biennial Mission Summit as they give and receive insights on how to faithfully journey in life with Christ Jesus as Lord. Be with all of our ambassadors to share your peace, joy, hope and love to wherever you are sending us this summer.

We pray for those who are in need of tender mercies. Comfort the family of Evelyn Young who is now with you and give us encouragement in the days to come. Be with our faithful friend, David Wong who attends every Sunday and continues to reach out to our neighbors and friends because he has Jesus in his heart. Be with him when he has his knee surgery so that he may be able to continue his dedicated service. We lift up George Lai to your loving care as he receives the medical attention he needs to eradicate the cancer in his body. We pray for healing and good health as he continues to also care for Joanna. Bless…

Renew in us, Lord the awareness that we are indeed ambassadors, representatives, and witnesses to you and to your reign. In the holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray together, “Our Father…”

Dedication of Delegates to the Biennial Mission Summit

The overall theme for this biennial is “Come, Share the Journey.” Our 9 delegates will join upward of almost 3000 people for the convention. There will be many meal events, plenaries where worship and preaching will happen, Sunday seminars and Table Conversations where everyone has the chance to choose 2 topics for discussion with the possibility of setting these topics in becoming the agenda for the denomination for the next 2 years.

Share what you are looking forward to in Overland Park, Kansas:

Prayer

Dear God, we have heard the hopeful expectations of these committed delegates from our church to attend and represent our church at the 2015 Biennial Mission Summit on June 26-28 in Overland Park, Kansas. Grant them the witness to listen and speak, the presence to love and care, the commitment to give and to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as the talents and resources that our American Baptist family offers them as well as to our church in San Francisco. Grant them safe travels and we look forward to their return to hear about how you, Lord are blessing us as your people. In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen.

Benediction

May Christ be near you to defend you.

Within you to refresh you,

Around you to preserve you,

Before you to guide you,

Behind you to justify you,

Above you to bless you. Amen.
