Prayer of God’s People
August 10,2014
Dear God, we worship you and we praise you for the wondrous truth of your presence with us in Christ Jesus. Help us to sense your presence, and to hear the voice of our Lord Jesus speaking peace to us as the world is raging with conflict. Help us to keep our eyes on Jesus and to be attentive to his word, calling us to walk or to wait to discern your plan for our lives.
O God, we pray for those in our beloved community who are in need of your healing touch to be made whole and well again. Continue to shower your grace on George Chen as he receives treatment for his cancer with a faithful heart that all is well with you. Strengthen him with the confidence that all things are possible with you. Continue to bless Carolyn Hee and her family as they look forward to celebrating Fred Hee’s life on August 18th. We lift up in your loving care the many loved ones and friends who are struggling with life and health concerns that you would give them the courage to remain obedient and trusting in your will. Bless this congregation with the peace of Jesus Christ through whom we have obtained access to your grace in which we stand and we boast in our hope of sharing in your glory.
Almighty God, we are inspired by those who have dedicated their lives to reach out to those who have not yet known Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Thank you for calling Ivy and Emerson Wu to become your missionaries in Macau with the objective of reaching out to young people with job alternatives and work opportunities other than those being offered in the casino industry. Give them power and a servant heart to become the hands and feet of Christ. O God, guide our commitment as your disciples to support and pray for the Wus as they come today to share with us the Lord’s work in Macau.
We pray for the many victims of last week’s earthquake disaster in China. May we do our part by giving generously to support the relief efforts.
We thank you, God that you are here in this place and seek your forgiveness when we failed to remember that you are with us in Jesus Christ. We pray that we would rise to the challenge to be the devoted disciples at home in Chinatown as well as around the world especially through the work of our missionaries.
All these things, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together saying, “Our Father…”
