Prayer of God’s People
On this Thanksgiving Sunday, we give you, O God, thanks and praise. For the bounty of the field, for the blessings of the harvest, for the beauty that surrounds us, in countryside and cityscape, for the wisdom of the children, for the smiles of our seniors, for the love of friends and family, for the fellowship we share in this church, we give you, O God thanks and praise. Hear our prayer for peace around the world, for us and for all. We pray that all may share in our blessings.
Merciful God, we pray that you continue be with Faye Wong as she recovers from her health ailments. Strengthen her and David to be faithful and to see every new day as yet another gift from you. We pray for Carmelita Chu and her family as they grieve over the passing of Eugene Chu. Bless them at this time and may we remember Eugene’s long and faithful life in this life as we know he is in heaven. Guide and protect those serving on the Thailand Mission Team as they complete their work and begin making plans to return home to us this coming week. Keep their travels safe and open our hearts to hearing all the amazing work that you are doing in Thailand. Bless…
Lord, deep in our hearts we hear echoing what has been taught to us from childhood: “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul, and strength.” First things first has in the past meant that when we get through with all that we want to accomplish in our lifetimes, then, Lord, we’ll work on your agenda. Today, we see that our failures and frustrations have come upon us because we sought to live our lives for ourselves. Teach us again to seek your face, take up the cross, and follow you. May our worship turn our heart back to you and may you replace our hardened hearts with a heart of flesh. May we enter your courts with thanksgiving and praise, great God our King!
Now we unite our contrite spirits in praying the prayer our Lord and King taught us to pray, “Our Father…”
Benediction
To say “Jesus is Lord” is to say, “Caesar is not Lord.”
To say “Jesus is King” is to say, “Nobody else can be king.”
Let us go and make his reign present in this world.
May Christ, the true King of the hill bless you and rule over you today and everyday.
Amen. Go in peace.
