Prayer of God’s People

Dear Lord, we live with noise, distraction, clatter and constant commotion. Help us to remove all that to hear only you. The messages from the world would lead us down a road of confusion, despair and destruction. We need you to lead us on a path to clarity, hope and life. Help us to clear our minds and open our hearts until all that we hear is you.

In these past couple of weeks, we have witnessed tragedies after tragedies and have become numbed at the terror, loss of lives, and great suffering. We pray for those who are recovering from injuries caused by terrorist bombs, earthquakes and industrial explosions that their bodies will become strong and vibrant once again. We pray for the families who have lost precious loved ones and will continue to feel saddened and emptiness knowing that life will need to go on without them. And Lord, we also pray for mercy for those who caused suffering and destruction and for all of us who believe that you came in Christ to redeem the sinful world in which we live. Make room in our hearts to forgive in the face of our enemies.

Thank you God for granting our church a bigger vision and expansive mission field that extends beyond our front doors. Continue to guide and bless the 18 people who are preparing for their mission trip to Thailand this June. May their fundraising and support efforts lead to positive results. Grant safe travels to the 31 travelers to Germany beginning tomorrow as they learn and understand the significance of the Protestant Reformation to our own faith and witness through our church.

God who makes all things new, God who replenishes and restores, God who will burst into history as your will is done on earth as it is in heaven, make us new, grant us joy, give us peace as we pray the prayer that Jesus Christ taught us, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Christ calls us to go on the highways, the freeways, the uncharted ways to bring Good News!

What God has made clean, we must not call profane.

Let us therefore go forward in hope, trust, and joy!

Amen.
