Prayer Concerns
*George Chen
*Jimmy Chen, out of ICU and improving
*Herman Wan as he and his family celebrate his mother’s life today; service this morning
*Ed Tom passing; Ann is a member of FCBC and a very good friend of Ginny Owyang and I. We were college friends and she was baptized in the 60’s at FCBC. Although she has not come to church in a long time many of the older members remember her and she was active before she got married. Her husband Ed has been sick for a long time with a tumor and things have gotten worse in the last year. He died peacefully at home with Ann by his side. He is survived by a son, Jimmy, daughter in law and two grandsons who live in the LA area and a daughter Cathy who is a nurse and lives here in San Francisco.
You might want to mention it at church on Sunday just to let some of the older members know and that the church friends have Ann and her family in thoughts and prayer. Butch and I had lunch with Ann and Ed several months ago and he was still in good spirits. I have kept in contact with her and I will try to encourage her to come back to church.
Thanks,
Gayle
Prayer of God’s People
We thank you, God for the unrestrained mercy which drops like gentle dew from heaven. When we experienced the light showers this past Thursday, we are reminded of your mercy and grace.
We pray for others in our community of faith who are in need of your miracle of healing. Continue to stand beside George Chen and Jimmy Chen as they receive the care and medical attention to bring wholeness and good health in their lives. Bless…
We pray for Herman Wan and his family at this time when they are remembering his mother and celebrating how she nurtured and cared for her family. We pray for Ann Tom as she grieves for the passing of her husband, Ed. We trust in the promise that life everlasting is ensured in the resurrection of our Lord.
Dear God, we confess we have done those things we ought not to have done, and have neglected to do those things which are of your will and way. We freely acknowledge our misdoings and our need for your mercy and forgiveness. Forgive and cleanse us from the impure thoughts and judgments that we have based on prejudice or jealousy, anger or vengeance. Give us hearts of forgiveness, generosity, and gracious mercy. In the name of Christ we pray and who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”
Benediction
The blessing of the God of eternal mercy,
The Christ of divine forgiveness,
And the Holy Spirit of indiscriminate love is upon us.
Let us go into the world offering God’s shocking grace to all who hear and believe.
Amen.
