Prayer of God’s People
God of everything, we see wonder, glory, power, and beauty all around us. We see this beauty not only in the earth we share and the universe we explore, but also in the people who share this world and this church with us. Descend into our midst today at this time of worship. Inspire us so that we see the world and all people with your eyes.
O Lord, in a world where talent is confined to what will sell or what is in demand, let us instead see what the world really needs. In a world that pays millions for throwing or hitting a ball, let us instead celebrate the talent of listening. In a world that sees making money as primary, help us see the talent of being caring and loving as more important. In a world that allows 1% of the population to have all the wealth leaving the other 99% struggling, show us a society that practices fairness and justice. In a world that takes advantage of domestic workers, immigrants, and day laborers to make our lifestyle more convenient, let us pray for immigration reform and fair wages. In a world that values and applauds singing on stage, O Lord, teach us to sing to the children. Forgive us, O Lord for the ways we overlook the suffering of others and teach us that we will have a compassionate heart for all your children.
Today, we pray for our loved ones and friends who are in need of your mercy and healing. Continue to be with Bill Chin as he recovers from his surgery, with Flo Chin as she provides care to Bill at his side as well as for Flo’s health and her voice to return. Bless James Wong as he rests at home to regain his strength in order to have a scheduled surgery soon. Be with…
For these we pray, and for ourselves, that we might remain willing to risk in your name, for your glory. This we pray faithfully in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”
Benediction
Since we belong to the day, let us take upon ourselves faith, hope, and love as our garment, our shield, our armor of salvation, for God has destined us for salvation through Jesus Christ. Amen.
