Prayer of God’s People

Holy God, in the shadows of our fears, in the sunlight of our joys, in whatever state you find us on this day, O God, make your Holy Spirit known among us.

We lift up for your eternal care, David Yue who returned to you having lived a long and faithful life. Comfort his family at this time of loss, confident that the promise of everlasting life is true because we believe Christ Jesus conquered death when he rose from the tomb. We pray for…

O God, we are troubled by the danger and fears of potential chaos and war in Iraq and other difficult places around the world. We pray for reason and reconciliation leading to order and long-lasting peace. When there is great needs and a wide divide between those who have too much from those with way too little, we pray for the willingness to share the abundance that have all come from you. We pray that there would be no more dying but the hope and plans to live long and meaningful lives as you have intended for us.

Close at home, we seek your presence and spirit as Day Camp begins its third week. Keep the campers and counselors safe from harm. Encourage and guide the counselors and directors as they teach your word of Good News in Jesus Christ to young minds and hearts. Watch over the final preparations for this year’s Youth Camp as many youth will be convening for a week of Bible studies and learning.

Loving Jesus, we pray that we would follow you, the Holy Spirit would not forsake us and God, our Creator will hold us as we go into the world to bear witness to Christ, our Lord and salvation. In Christ’s name we pray the prayer that he taught us, “Our Father…”

Benediction

May the cross of Christ be lifted high in hope where there is none,

The love of God stream forth toward those who live in longing,

And the Holy Spirit rise in power in all places in all the earth. Amen.
