*Congratulations to Howard Lee who was installed as the new 2015 president of the Wa Sung Community Social Club in Alameda last night

Prayer of God’s People

Holy God, in Christ Jesus, you brought light into the darkness of the earth. We gather to worship you who are creating a new order. We are being changed; old things are passing away, and the new is coming, as surely as day follows night and life follows death.

Help us to see and believe the vision of the new life you give. As we seek and are open to ongoing conversation in our own lives by your Spirit, may we be partners with Christ in spreading your light throughout the world.

In the life and care of this beloved community, we pray for those who are in need of grace and mercy. Be with Nancy Fong as she receives assistance to identify the causes of her ill health. Grant her answers toward the restoration of health. Continue to watch over little Nico Tom as he grows up in the loving care of his devoted parents. And today we celebrate with the Chen family how George Chen’s is making great strides toward a strong health after his cancer treatments. We are thankful, dear God, our Creator and Sustainer for the way you have made us and the abilities that we have to become whole and strong once again as the result of your creative powers.

Today, we pray for peace in the world fraught with violence, discontent, and hate. Teach us to set down our arms and to seek for the peace of all understanding predicated on the truth that all people are created by you to give you praise and to live productive lives in the making of your place on earth. Show us that there’s a place for everyone at the table. Lead us to share our abundance with one another just like we did in preschool. Teach us to meet all strangers like we are meeting you, our Lord and Savior.

We pray for this church and its life-changing ministries around the world. Guide the plans for this year’s Thailand Mission Team to bring clean water to another village and to teach the Good News of Jesus Christ in VBS. We pray for your presence at next Sunday’s Annual Meeting as we reflect back on how you have been ever-present with us and that in faith, we believe you will empower us to do Mission in Chinatown this year and in the years to come.

We thank you, God, for your transforming Spirit who works in us according to our willingness to be matured into the image of your holiness, from one degree of glory to another. All this, in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to prayer together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Choose and trust in God and you will receive peace and joy.

Now may the blessing of the God of divine purpose and intervention,

Enacted through Jesus the Christ,

Is upon us in love and in power.

Amen.
