Prayer of God’s People

We pray, loving God, for a portion of your wisdom, which is more than we know to desire. We pray that whether we are rich or poor, neither wealth nor want will rule our lives. We pray that our station in life, our vocation, will not deter us from the wisest course, discipleship in Jesus. Teach us Lord, not to worship victory as the world defines it, believing our success is possible only at the expense of others. May we taste the peace that passes understanding. May we be content when all have enough, when each sits beneath their own vine or fig tree, with none making them afraid.

Today, dear God, we pray for a deeper commitment to learn and discover new things, to explore and understand the things about this world that are beyond our personal interests in order to embrace all that you have created. Help us Lord to not be content with the kind of people we are now but to grow and expand our horizons by attending the Fall Overview course this year. Lead us to meet our neighbors and to have compassion for those who are in needs that we can’t even imagine. Open our eyes when we visit our neighbors and see what SROs are like. And as the children of our Sunday school are promoted to another grade, open their hearts to know Jesus as their friend and Savior. Encourage and equip our teachers to be faithful and teach by their modeling the Christian life.

Thank you, O God, for the strong fellowship that we have in Christ at church. As a loving and supportive community, we pray for those who are in need of your powerful mercy and healing. Be with Ken Jay as he recovers from his surgery and we pray that his cancer is under control. Continue to be with Bill Chin as he returns to his normal life with the hope of addressing this problem with long-lasting results.

We thank you for this time of prayer and worship that we can have with you, O God and offer these prayers and petitions knowing that we have your promise that all things are possible with you. In the name of Christ Jesus, we pray and who taught us to say together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Be careful how you live,

Not as unwise people but as wise,

Making the most of the time given to us.

Go in peace,

Drenched in God’s wisdom,

Safe from temptation,

Prone to glory,

dedicated to Christ,

ambassadors of God. Amen.
