Prayer of God’s People

Alpha and Omega, first and last, you are greater than your creation, greater than we can imagine. Emmanuel, God with us, we thank you for your presence, eternal and everlasting. We pray that in your time all may be well, and all may be done according to your will. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.

We gather in prayer at the end of the summer season to worship and to discern your will for our lives. While we celebrate our oneness in Christ when we have our church picnic and outdoor worship next Sunday, we are also mindful of the work of the Long-Range Planning Committee as it imagines and forecasts what your plan may be for us in the next 5 years. While we prepare for the upcoming retreats and camps over the Labor Weekend, we are also preparing ourselves to learn more about the Bible and our discipleship in the Fall Sunday school classes. And while we are still remaining faithful to the ministries and mission work in the remaining of this year, we are also making faithful plans for 2014 as we get ready to propose next year’s church budget. Guide our steps, O God and lead us to your will for us in your world.

In times of ill health and suffering, we pray for healing and the comfort of your mercy. We are saddened to hear about the passing of Ben Wong and recently their son, Jonathan Wong from cancer. We pray for Evelyn Wong and their family at this time of great grief. We lift up…

Dear God, you are the maker of all things and all people. We pray for peace and understanding around the world especially in places where there are war, conflict and untold chaos. There are nations that are mired in conflict as a way of life, we pray for your shalom, your peace that passes understanding that will heal and bring hope. And we pray for the inner conflicts that we may have in our lives or the conflicts that we have in our families, our workplaces and in our communities that in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, the peace that passes all understanding may heal and bring us hope. In the name of Christ who taught us to pray together, Our Father…

Benediction

Jesus said, “I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!”

Be ready to follow Jesus.

May the love of God entwine us,

divine will and human will as one,

so that the design of heaven is mirrored on earth,

az nd we become a part of it all.

Amen.
