Prayer of God’s People

Beyond dark and doubt, we have come to the rising of life and hope, spreading light like the rising of the sun. This is your doing, O God, and we praise you as your witnessing people. Speak to us today, in our hearts and in our hearing, that your new life might spark our spirits and fire our wills that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

In a world in which the daily news is nothing more than about how we hurt one another or fail one another or hate one another, we come as your people to work for unity among all your people. Help us we pray to bring peace. In a world that uses faith as a weapon, let us instead make it for each of us a plea for peace. In a world that makes differences a way to power, let us instead use our differences to bring peace. In a world that uses power to destroy, let us instead use humility to empower us all. In a world that enjoys the discomfort of others and finds humor in those that are brought down, let us instead find joy and comfort in those who help the lowly and amazement in those that help those in emotional and physical need. In a world without God, in a world that makes fun of Jesus and his sacrifice for us, let us find moments of true understanding of what makes our world and our lives possible.

In a world that still have people who are grieving and saddened over the passing of loved ones, let us trust in you, Lord who rose from the grave so that we are promised everlasting life. Be with Anthony Liu and Susanna Liu as they and their family remember and celebrate the life of their mother, Yue Jin Liu. Be with Lois Chiang who is grieving over the sudden passing of her husband Willis and grant her peace and the reassurance of your love for her. Bless…

Lord, teach us to be Easter people today and become your messenger of hope and love in the world. We pray in the name of the Son of God, Jesus, who told us that a loving God makes us and our world possible. In his name we pray and who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

You who are called to be the people of God’s peace,

Receive the peace given by the resurrected Jesus to his disciples,

And share that peace with all you see in your daily life.

Live faithfully.

Witness cheerfully.

Pray ceaselessly.

Serve fruitfully.

Jesus said, “Peace be with you. As God has sent me, so I send you.”

Easter continues with you. Amen.
