Prayer of God’s People

O God, as your loving and faithful people, we praise you with our voices, our thoughts and our lives as we reflect about our discipleship and servanthood in Christ Jesus during this season of Lent. We pray for the beginning of Holy Week that begins next Sunday with the triumphant entry of Christ to Jerusalem only to be betrayed, arrested, tried, beaten and crucified on the cross for the salvation of the world. As we humbly walk through the coming days, we pray for spiritual reflection that would transform us to becoming followers of your ways instead of ours.

We lift up with celebration the public witness of 5 persons who will share their Christian stories with us this afternoon as a sign of how you continue to make your living presence among us. We sense your nearness to us as we hear how you have become real in these persons’ lives in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

In times of life concerns, we find ourselves discouraged but never hopeless, drained but never without the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, worried but never without the promise that everything is possible with God. We give thanks for the life of Linda Tong who has returned to your loving care. Be with Collin during these days of loss and grief. Watch over Bill Jang as he receives treatment for his heart condition so that it would restore his health. Be with Laura Pang’s mother and Sharon Leong as they trust the need for healing in your loving embrace. Grant us the faith in your plan for our lives and lead us to come out of our safe havens to participate in your kingdom work.

Today we also pray for those in power in our governments to set aside their partisanships and differences to work for the common good of all people. Lead them to compromise where it’s appropriate, cooperate where they see common agreements, and to listen to the opinions of their constituents to watch over the welfare of everyone.

We pray all these things with the faith that you are the God of the whole wide world including the God in us who have come to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

May we all one day hear our Savior Jesus call us, “Come forth!”

And when we do, may our lives in both word and deeds give God glory!

Amen.
