We welcome Joe and Allison Shubert, who have brought their baby, Liam Joseph Shubert all the way from snowy Maine to be dedicated to God, the maker of all things and the giver of life. In doing so we follow the way of Jesus who said, “Let the little children come to me; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.”
To Joe and Allison:
In presenting Liam to God, do you promise that through the grace given you, with the loving support of family and friends and with the spiritual guidance from this congregation, you will teach him the truths and responsibilities of the Christian faith, and to seek to lead him into a living relationship with Jesus Christ?

To the Chan & Low Families:
Do you, relatives of Joe Chan and Emily Chan, promise to watch over and protect Liam as he grows up in maturity teaching him the importance of family traditions and celebrations so that he will know his significant place in the world?
“We will.”
To the Congregation:
Do you, the members of this congregation, accept the responsibility, together with the parents and the extended family, to pray for this child and to teach him that he is a child of the living God? If so, will you signify your acceptance by standing?
Pastor takes the baby and gives the blessing:
Liam Joseph Shubert, God bless you and keep you. God’s face shine upon you and be gracious to you. God look upon you with favor and give you peace. Amen.
Let us pray.
Loving Father God, even as Mary and Joseph brought the child Jesus to your house that he might be consecrated to your service, so Joe and Allison have brought Liam to this place, that among your people they might present him to you. Give to these parents your special graces of insight and love, that under their guidance, Liam may grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with you and all people. Grant that we your people may truly be a household of faith to Liam, providing him with food for the spirit to nourish him through the years of growth and maturity. With gratitude to you for this child we dedicate him, his parents and family, and ourselves, to the end that Liam’s life may be a blessing to you and a service to the world. Amen.
