Prayer of God’s People

God of us all, we thank you for this place of worship and this time of prayer. We are thankful for the way your presence was among us last Sunday at our membership meeting to guide our discussions and to lead us to focus on the future opportunities to remain faithful and expand our ministries to others.

We are thankful for our health, and grateful we are able to be here for this fellowship known as the First Chinese Baptist Church. Surround those who are ill and those who care for them with your loving and healing presence. For those who come here suffering the pain of loss, we ask for your peace which passes all understanding. Be with Tommy and Jimmy Lim and their families as they look forward to celebrating their mother’s long and productive life this Wednesday. Be with Barbara Lym Wong and her family this week as they remember her father, Ray Lym’s life of faithfulness and service.

Lord, we want so much to help others and sometimes, we confess, we do not know what to do. Lead us to give generously to the One Great Hour of Sharing offering that will assist the relief and rebuilding efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Open our hearts to supporting the many mission endeavors that we have like supporting Ivy and Emerson Wu so that they may serve as missionaries in Macau. Help us to focus on the life of your Son Jesus Christ so that by his example, we might be faithful in our service to others.

Breathe on us the breath of new life; break down the walls of our resistance, O God, so that we might do what you would have us do. Instill in us enthusiasm for the tasks before us such as making a pledge to the work of this church in 2013.

Enliven our ordinary moments into occasions of worship and joy as we serve you in all that we do. Help us to retain the knowledge of our past misfortunes and tragedies that we might reattain a new appreciation for all the gifts that are ours, through Christ our Lord who taught us to pray…”Our Father…”

Benediction

May God bless you daily, with familiar comforts and enlightening surprises.

May God comfort you even in times of unwanted tragedies.

May God sustain you and nourish you, spiritually and physically, until we come together once more in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.
