Prayer of God’s People

Ever-present God, always and everywhere you are with us, nurturing, cultivating, creating anew. We ask for your special presence with us this hour, as we sing praises to your name, hear your life-giving word, and to pray that we become your will.

As we come together in the middle of the summer, we pray for the continuing vitality of this church situated in the middle of Chinatown where the whole world converge to live life, to bear witness of your love, and to preach Good News. Bless and watch over Day Camp as they meet for their last week ensuring the children that God loves them always and that they will be able to come on Sundays to learn more about Jesus. Guide the final planning for Youth Camp so that the junior highs and senior highs will learn about who their neighbors are and be challenged to demonstrate Christian hospitality. Be with Nate Lee and all our church people who want to do more with their faith to bring about peace and reconciliation in the world.

We celebrate the birth of Colby Ung as he brings joy to Eva and Arlen and the rest of their family. Bless them as they welcome this little one home to be raised up to know you, Lord as his loving Lord and Savior. Be with…

Too often, Lord, we have assumed that we are the righteous and those we distrust are sinners. May we, as true disciples, strive to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who persecute us. May our focus and energy remain directed at turning the world upside down, that we might have a share in your outrageous aim of saving the lost and reclaiming those who wander. Forgive us as we seek to forgive. These things we pray, humbly, peacefully, prayerfully in the name of Christ who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Go forward in faith, secure in the knowledge that no matter where we go,

God is!

No matter what trials we face,

God is there!

No matter how alone we feel,

God is there for us!

Go out to tend the messy garden of the world.

Amen.
