Prayer Concerns
*Paul Fong’s brother Stanley Fong passed last week and his service was this past Wednesday
*Rev. Sebastian Ong’s father passed after a stroke on June 21
Prayer of God’s People
God of love, you were alone in the depths of time, self-sufficient, requiring nothing, yet you chose to create to share in your creativity. First you called into existence galaxies and stars, the vast expanse of the cosmos, the universe that is expanding and contracting. Against this backdrop, you created us, individuals, not God, and capable of loving you or rejecting you. You gave us free will. For this we give thanks, for when we choose to love you, serve you, follow you, the decision comes from our hearts.
Lord, you also have given us the commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves. The world is our neighborhood. All are our neighbors. You made us each sufficient, but able to take the risk of loving each other, one family of God. In many ways, our solar energy project is a testimony of our love for you and the beautiful world that you have made and our love for our neighbors to reduce global warming to ensure a more habitable world to survive.
In this world that you have entrusted us with, we pray for those who are in need of your tender mercies and loving blessings. Be with Paul Fong and the family of Stanley Fong as they remember him and celebrate his long life. Bless Rev. Sebastian Ong as he grieves the loss of his father knowing that you care for all of your creation. Touch our lives with your grace and remind us that especially when we are afraid and worried about the future that you will provide a way in your time.
We give you thanks that in your perfect solitude, you conceived a multitude of creation. In being love you created the possibility of love. In your power to create, you have empowered us in the Holy Spirit to proclaim good news to everyone in the world. All glory and honor is yours and in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior who taught us to pray saying, “Our Father…”
Offertory
You may know exactly what you have placed in your offering envelope, but you cannot hope to know what God will do with the great and the small offerings. What matters is the Spirit with which we give.
We love because you first loved us. We give because we have been given much. We share because you have shared with us the awe-inspiring creation what was always yours, but is ours for a season. Amen.
Benediction
Go forth, not alone, but secure in the knowledge that we have God’s power on our side.
Let God guide you.
Follow Jesus as our example.
Abide in the Holy Spirit, our power source, in whom we live, move, and have our being.
