Prayer of God’s People

O God, you are our friend, our savior. By the glorious resurrection of your Son, you have vanquished the powers of death which once held our lives. By the return of the risen Christ to his disciples, you qualified us to share in the power of his glorious reign. Thank you, O God for gathering us here today to worship and to give praise in your name.

On this special day, we take a moment to recognize and honor the mothers in our lives when they provided love and care for us when we were young and vulnerable. We honor them when they taught us the way of life based on the truth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And when it was time for us to become independent, we are grateful for our mothers and fathers for trusting in us to become mature and responsible members of the faithful community. For much of who we are today, we know have come from the love of God expressed sacrificially through our mothers and fathers.

We pray for the power of healing for those whom we love and know for you have placed them in our care. Continue to be with Jimmy Chan as he recuperates in the rehab center in order for him to become restored in health again. Grant him strength and the courage to become well again. Bless…

Give us the grace to bear fruit in your name, to tell others about what your love has meant to us, to heal the wounds of those who hurt, to bind up the brokenhearted, to rescue the perishing, to comfort the sad and lonely. We pray for the relief and rebuilding efforts that are underway after the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal by the generous gifts we make today.

And finally, O God, help us to love one another, here in the church, as you have loved each one of us. In the name of Christ Jesus we pray and who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Friends of Christ, carry God’s love into the world.

You have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit.

Let the “Hand on-the-String God” empowers you to love as we have been loved.

Amen.
