Prayer of God’s People
Alpha and Omega, Almighty and Everlasting, we proclaim with our presence here in this place that your reign has already begun. It is in your good will that all should come to know your glory, your presence, and your love. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, that we may go forth and proclaim in the marketplace, in the face of those in authority, and in the presence of loved ones who have not yet heard that you, who will be coming in the clouds, may be served now.
Lord, we can see that proclamation of good news as we pray for Pastor Lee and his group visiting China and building partnerships with the thriving churches in China so that all may know Jesus, our Savior. We pray for the Kenley Mew in China and the Thailand Mission Team who are preparing to embark to the hill tribes of Northern Thailand this June to help provide fresh and clean water and to teach the stories about Jesus in songs and games. While we can still see the daily trials and tribulations of our day, we pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to be present by your grace, our living God.
God of mercy and healing, we pray for those in our midst who are in need of your love and comfort. Continue to be with Jane Young as she completes her life in this world having the full confidence that you are waiting for her in the next. Grant encouragement and faith in Brad Lue as he receives cancer treatment to become well again. Be with…
For our faith in what we have not yet seen, we thank you. For the marvelous grace of Jesus, for the presence that granted peace to disbelieving disciples, and for the divine audacity that sped beyond the cross to the eternally empty tomb, we thank you. For every line of scripture, for every ancient witness, for every prophecy that pierces the heart, for every proverb that lends wisdom and discernment, for the narrative of salvation, from birth to death and beyond, we thank you.
Truly, you are the one who will come with the clouds, who will be revealed, at whose name every knee shall bow who’s name we pray together, “Our Father…”
The Lord’s Supper
It’s only been one week after Easter. After Jesus was crucified and he rose from the dead and visited his friends, Jesus said to them, “Peace be unto you!” They saw Jesus was alive and were filled with joy. But one of his friends, a man named Thomas, came to the room after Jesus left. He did not believe Jesus was alive. He said he would not believe until he saw the wounds of Jesus himself.
A week later Jesus came back to the same room. This time Thomas was there. Jesus showed him his wounds. Thomas put his fingers on them and knew it was true. He said, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus said, “Thomas, you believe I have come back to life because you see me.” And here’s the part he was saying to us: “Blessed are those who have not seen me yet but who believe!” That’s us. We have not seen Jesus yet. We have heard about Jesus. We have read about Jesus. We trust those who saw Jesus. We believe, even though, we have not yet seen.
Jesus says we’re blessed! That means every one of you is special.
Benediction
Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
As Jesus was sent, so now we are sent into the world!
Receive the Holy Spirit.
Forgive sins!
Reconcile!
Redeem!
Amen. Go in peace!
