Being 67

5.12.2016

Having a birthday in this social media world meant that I received an electronic birthday wish from my optometrist office, one from Holland America since we’ll be cruising with them this July, another one from my Lexus dealership and a number of Facebook comments.

I deeply appreciate the birthday card wishes from a few close church friends and even a couple of generous gift cards to places I shop like Home Depot! I received a nice packing system from our son and family since I’m still traveling a bit and an Italian dinner and a Mike’s Bike gift card from our daughter and family. I still need a headlight on my new Marin Fairfax road bike.

On Saturday, Joy is celebrating my birthday and saying that I will be “King for the Day!” I still remember the old TV game show when a lucky mother contestant is crowned “Queen for the Day!” She received new appliances and usually a trip. I wonder what mine will be…

Taking nothing from any of the kind and generous birthday wishes above, what I enjoyed by far the most is when Sage went and interviewed her family members about what birthday appreciation they have about me:

Appreciations from the Fam!=

Happy Birthday to Yeh Yeh. Happy Birthday to you!

Mommy—“I like that Yeh Yeh is always up for an adventure like Disneyland!”

Daddy—“I like about Yeh Yeh is that he always helps around the house. He is always thinking of ways to help. No matter how late, how tired, how hungry, or how tedious, he is always ready to serve.”

Story—“I like that he is always cheering me up when I’m sad.”

Canon—“I like that he is so nice and I love him!”

Sagey—“What I like about Yeh Yeh is that he makes me happy and whenever I need him, he is there. (he also makes really good fried rice!)”

The homemade card is dotted with happy faces too.

Nothing in life is better than this—I am deeply blessed. Thanks.
