Prayer of God’s People
Gracious Lord God, we give you thanks for the mystery of our existence, the fact that we are here at all. You have set into motion a great dance of life on our world and we give thanks for what we can see and what we cannot see, for particles we only guess at, and for the stars and worlds yet undiscovered.
We thank you for the wonder of perception, for the fact that we can see and hear and touch and taste this wonderful and awe-inspiring creation that we take for granted. We walk through wonders daily without praising or even acknowledging what a wonder it is to be here. Forgive us, Lord when we lose sight of your glory and grace for us.
We thank you for the continuing revelation of your glory and the unfolding of history, for creation and recreation of seasons and settings, alike and unique, ever-changing yet reassuring, revealing that you do not change. In Christ, you make all things new to which all blessing and honor and glory and might be yours forever.
We praise you for the birth of life and pray that Madeleine Claire Jang grows in maturity toward knowing you as Lord. Be with her parents and the extended family as they welcome this new baby into this world. We lift up in prayer…
Bless all of us and open our ears, our eyes, and our hearts to the miracle that surrounds us, the praise that engulfs us, and the wonder that accompanies us in every moment of our lives. These things we pray in your mighty name, Lamb of God, you who bear the marks of slaughter and wear the wounds of glory and who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”
Benediction
Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered
To receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
And honor and glory and blessing!
Remember: Heaven is where God gets what God wants.
Amen.
