Please Care

January 22, 2017
This morning after another heavy rain overnight, I stepped outside to fetch my paper. I frightened a little bird with a worm in his beak. The bird dropped the worm on the step and flew off. I debated in myself whether to pick up the worm and put it in the brush to have a chance to live or leave it for the little bird to eat again.

Today I am worried about what may happen to many vulnerable and at-risk people in the world. Will they have the safety net that our country has modeled for the rest of the world when misfortunes happen to all of us some day in our fragile lives? When it comes down to it, it’s simply caring for the other. It’s being a human being designed by our Creator to care like the Creator cared. I pray for the President to succeed in caring for all people even those outside our borders because the Creator cares.

By the way, I left the worm on the step. I hope the little bird found something else to eat.
