Prayer of God’s People

O God, you have pledged through Jesus that you will not leave us orphans. As we gather in our worship today we earnestly pray that you will not abandon us, but will protect us and nurture us, raising us up as your confessing people, that in the manner of our living and the joy of our singing, the peace of our abiding and the strength of our speaking, we may receive you and proclaim you, here and the world over.

We give you thanks for the Spirit of Truth in strengthening and guiding us to be faithful witnesses of your power and presence in the world like those who traveled to Turkey and Greece in the past two weeks. We thank you for your commandments, which do not restrict us, but set us free with respect and love for each other, to live for each other and for you, dear God.

We know there are many among us who would benefit from your mercy and we now lift up their injuries for your healing, their challenges for your empowerment, their lack of resources for your abundance and their uncertainties for your providential guidance. Be with Laura Dare and Tom Feng as they continue to address the issues facing Tristan’s education. Bless Rev. Jim McAllister as he trust in the Lord for the passing of his wife, Betty Lou and grant this family mercy. Lead us to trust in your mercy…

Always and everywhere, we call to mind your story, your glory, your mystery, your assurance. You have not and will not, leave us desolate, but as a parent will create in us one family, here and around the world. We pray all these things in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

May God keep you safe along the way,

Strengthened by the truth of the good news,

That all you meet this week set their own feet

Upon the path of real and faithful life. Amen.
