I. The Inward Disciplines
1. Meditation
To hear God’s voice and obey his word.
2. Prayer
To commune with God to be changed.
3. Fasting
To abstain from food for spiritual purposes.
4. Study
To be transformed through the renewal of the mind.
II. The Outward Disciplines
5. Simplicity
To seek the Kingdom of God first leads to an inward reality that results in an outward lifestyle.
6. Solitude
To have a state of mind and heart that is inner fulfillment.
7. Submission
To deny oneself by giving way to others.
8. Service
To act like a servant brings humility to life.
III. The Corporate Disciplines
9. Confession
To have mutual confession releases the power to heal.
10. Worship
To respond in our human ways to God’s love.
11. Guidance
To value the instruction that comes from a group of faithful people.
12. Celebration
To bring joy into life through singing, dancing, and shouting.
