Prayer of God’s People

Dear God, you are the Word of truth, waiting patiently in our hearts to burst forth when we make the least motion toward living the gospel. We pray that you will live brightly among us in our prayers, in our praising, in our singing, in our speaking, in our listening. Remind us once more of your bountiful mercy which has been written on our hearts so that we may be your disciples in this world.

God of abundance, we give you thanksgiving for all the blessings and provisions that we have and pray that your will can be done on earth as it is already in heaven by the support we make to advance missions overseas. We pray for Kenley Mew and Steven Ng as they prepare themselves to travel to Vietnam and to share your love with those there. We pray for the donations that we make toward the World Mission Offering that support missionaries like Kit Ripley, Karen Smith, Kim Brown, and Becky and Mike Mann who are doing life-changing work among the people in Thailand. And we lift up in prayer our own commitment to support the vital ministries of our church next year as we decide on the pledge that we’ll make. Use all these efforts, O God to bring the Good News to a world in great need for hope and promise.

Loving and merciful Lord, we pray for those who are seeking your comfort and encouragement. Encourage Faye Wong as she regains her health and strength. Be present with Helen Doung, Byron and Layton Doung’s mother as she looks toward her heavenly reward. Watch over Linda Tong as she struggles with the devastation of Alzheimer’s and strengthen Collin Tong’s patience to be with her in the days to come. Guide our lives everyday as we make faithful decisions that will be a witness of your grace and love for all people.

Forgive us, Lord, when we claim that we don’t know you enough to get involved in the suffering of others. Remind us that you have already written on our hearts the new covenant of Jesus Christ, our Lord who taught us to pray together, saying, “Our Father…”

Offertory

Become the body of Christ, through these offerings, and through every action of caring and compassion in your lives.

May we be your hands, your feet, your eyes, Jesus. May we truly become the body of Christ through everything done in your name, Jesus, the one who reigns, at whose name someday every knee will bow, we dedicate ourselves to your caring and compassionate ministry. Amen.

Benediction

Now that God’s love is written on our hearts,

Let the healing that endures beyond all suffering,

the hope that survives all calamity,

and the peace that triumphs over all conflict,

be proclaimed in words and actions as you go forward in faith.

Amen.
