*Fred Hee and Cheryl Ng after successful kidney transplant on Friday

Prayer of God’s People

We gather together in your name. Our hands are raised in praise and prayer. Abide with us—as we seek your will for our lives. Inspire us—breathe for us—so that we might be faithful as you are faithful, loving as you are loving, preparing together for your harvest of peace and righteousness.

Your Spirit has sustained us this week for life, health, hope and peace for which we are indeed grateful. We praise you for watching over Fred Hee and Cheryl Ng this week as they recuperate after Fred received a gift of a kidney from his daughter Cheryl. We pray for healing and the return to a healthy and active life that will continue to work toward your plan for our lives and your love for the world. We lift up to you the needs of our hearts and the concerns from our community. Be with…

As a faithful community of disciples at this historic church, we pray for vision of new ministries, openness to the Spirit’s leading, and the courage and confidence that when we trust you with our lives and this church, all things are incredibly possible. Be with the Search Committee as they begin to review sermon samples from the applicants to be our next Associate Pastor. Help them to discern who would be the best person to serve with us to proclaim Good News. Empower the Nominating Committee as they begin to recruit new officers, board and committee members to serve in 2012 and beyond and we give thanks to all those who are still serving with diligence and faithfulness. Expand our understanding to enhance our worship services by providing more time to sing, pray, hear the Word from you and to give you praise while recognizing the reality that change is never easy.

Lord, we bring ourselves before you, just as we are—broken, sinful, and disobedient. We confess that we say one thing and do another. We say that we want to follow you, but we turn around and walk the other way. We say we love you and yet we do not love our brothers and sisters. But you are gracious, compassionate and slow to anger. Forgive us, for we have sinned. For this we humbly thank you. Thank you for not treating us as our sins deserve. For your love and forgiveness, we pray as our Lord taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

To the God of the heavens, the earth and all that is within it—

Be all glory and power and eternal worship!

May we not just talk the talk but walk the walk to do good deeds.

May the lives that we live from this moment forward reflect you and you alone!

Amen.
