Prayer of God’s People

Dear God, from every walk of life we have come determined to return to the place where we have found peace that passes understanding. Lord, here in this place your Spirit has washed away the grime of our lives and left us feeling renewed, restored, revived! We thank you, God of all times and seasons, that you are always present, always ready, and always visible in the sisters and brothers who share this place with us.

In this season of school beginnings and opportunities to grow, we pray for all the students in our midst; from the youngest in our primary classes to the oldest in our seniors that we be committed to study your Word, apply our disciplines in daily living, and to strive for peace and reconciliation in what we do. We pray for peace and appreciation for the variety of cultures and religious beliefs that our world has to offer. Enable us to make a difference in the world because we are your faithful and diligent disciples.

We pray for those who are confused and struggle every day with health issues and suffering. Be merciful toward Doris Yim who has been a faithful servant in many ways and watch over her especially at this time of life endings. Continue to bless and strengthen Faye Wong as she recovers from her long illness. Encourage David to be positive and to believe in your miracles.

Many of us are still shocked over the pictures and the tragedy of the gas explosion in San Bruno on Thursday night. We pray for those whose lives are forever changed because of having lost loved ones, recovering from burns, and the lost of valuable personal possessions. We pray for relief and the restoration of a thriving and friendly neighborhood once again. Grants us always, Lord a loving and compassionate heart.

We pray for the vitality and life of your church known as First Chinese Baptist as we focus on our Fall ministries—Beginning of adult classes, the calling of a new Pastor of Family Ministries, the proposed 2011 Church Budget, the nomination of new church officers and board members, and finally the celebration of our 130th church anniversary in just a few weeks from now.

We pray, confident of your presence and grateful for your mercy in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together, saying, “Our Father…”

Offertory

Restore order and balance in your life. Put God first and everything else will fall into place.

We place this offering on your altar and with it our lives to be used for your glory. Amen.

Benediction

We came to church today because God is calling us to do great things!

You have received community.

You have worshipped God.

You have done what Jesus wants us to do.

Now go and invite others to know God’s mercy and love this day and everyday.

Amen.
