Prayer of God’s People

O God, we know that you hear us, and, more than that, you respond to our cries. We are hurting people—we are sick, we are lost, we are sinful. Heal us, find us, free us. We hold secrets in our hearts that only you know. With loving grace, draw us to bring those to light. We are safe in you, we are forgiven by you, we are healed by your hand.

On this day, Lord God, we pray for Walter Tom as he rests and makes encouraging improvements in the hospital after a terrible accident. Grant him your grace and mercy so that his body will once again become strong and capable of serving Christ as he has. Bless Elaine and their family at this time of concerns and we pray for your love and presence in such times.

When a long and faithful life has been lived like that of Mrs. Wai Lum Chin, we praise you for how your hand has guided her to be your humble servant. Teach us to be happy and put you first in our lives as Mrs. Chin did in her life.

Be with the Chinese Retreat this weekend as our sisters and brothers hear the Good News of Christ Jesus and may turn their lives toward him. Lead us to attend to our own faith development when we make it a priority to attend Sunday School for ourselves and to share our lives with others.

When we remember each other in prayer it causes us to thank you, God. We see your love in the love we share, we who are equal parts saint and sinner and one hundred percent redeemed. Our faith is not in the things of this world, but in Jesus as teacher, example, mentor, and most of all Savior. With gratitude we receive joy and encouragement through your love, God of life, and the love we share with each other. May we be reshaped and reformed by you as the Great Potter as we serve the world in your name. Gratefully we pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Jeremiah calls us to “Turn now, all of you from your evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.”

We are being shaped and reshaped by the potter’s hands.

Accept the cross of Christ and you will discover new reasons for joy.

Amen.
