Prayer Concerns

*Tristan Feng did receive the decision to attend a new school where he may receive better attention as a child with autism; continue to pray for him and his parents, Laura Dare and Tom Feng

*From Flo Chin:

 1.     Our niece-in-law Karen lost her Dad last week.  He had a heart attack.  Unlike many of our friends at church, he was not given a “second chance”.  So, Bill & I would like you to please pray for Karen, my nephew Albert, and their two daughters Nicole and Shelly.  Shelly may not even know yet, as she was taking finals when her grandfather died.

2.     Then, on Bill’s side, our niece Shirley lost her father-in-law.  He also died of a heart attack.  Bill & I would like you to please pray for Joe & Shirley, daughter Kimmie (3 y.o.) and Joe’s Mom and sisters.  (Mr. Ng was 71 y.o.)…

Prayer for God’s People

Let us gather our breath as we gather our hearts and open them to you in prayer, O God. We confess that all too often, we feel depleted; we run out of energy, out of time, out of patience, out of love—out of breath. That is when, as now, we need to be still, and know that you are God.

Come to us in this time of silent quietude. Give us courage to breathe out the petty grievances we know we need to let go of, the resentments that linger and the hurts that have found a place to live. And let us breathe in the breath of new life, new love, new chances, new selves in your name.

We give you thanks for watching over Tristan Feng with his special abilities to be able to learn and grow in life. Grant him ways to live up to his potential and to his parents the encouragement and hope to persevere over the long haul. We pray for Flo and Bill’s extended family members who have recently lost loved ones. Grant them the comfort of your love and the confidence that you are always watching out for your children. Bless…

On this Day of Pentecost, we ask you to help us to understand each other, despite our differences. You have taught us that it is not in looking alike, not in acting alike, not in speaking the same language, not in sharing priorities we imagine somehow make us better than everyone else, that we become your people. Nor do you expect us to be guards at the gates of heaven. Instead, we are thankful that you have made us one people in a way that transcends our differences in dress, in culture, in languages, and in life. Make us one as you would have us become one, in your love, in your service, and in the manner of our living.

Our prayer remains that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Open our mouths in song and our hands in service. This we pray, with words given meaning through your grace, Spirit of God and in the name of Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

Young and old, strong and weak,

Dream dreams, share visions,

Prophesy to the lost and live the life of Christ visibly in the world.

Let’s party in the name of the Lord!

Amen!
