Prayer of God’s People

Each time we meet you, O God, we come with expectations for what it will be like. The truth is that we are always surprised by what you do in this precious time. Surprise us again today. Show us more of yourself for we want none but you. We want to see you, to hear you, to touch you. Help us to catch a glimpse of your holiness and to be changed because we’ve been in your presence.

Today we lift up the concerns of our loved ones who are suffering from the challenges of health. We pray for Fred Hee as he regains his health to continue to live an active and productive life. Grant him healing and strength. Thank you, Lord for enabling Franklin Hom to be discharged from the hospital after his time there. Bless him and watch over him. We pray for Baby Nico Tom as he is in the hospital to gain weight before having heart surgery; help his body to respond to food and nourishment. In times like these, we pray for the caregivers and parents of young children who offer loving support and tender caring. For they are truly the hands and feet of Christ in times of great need. Be with Carolyn and Marian and Eunice and Kenneth today as well as with many others who are willing to lend support and prayers.

And when it is our time to complete our work on this earth, we take time to celebrate the faithful lives of loved ones and friends knowing that they are now in your arms of eternal life. Be with the families and friends of Wing C. Kwong, Ed Lui, Yale Yee, and Milton K. Lee this coming weekend as they remember and trust in your promises of salvation and everlasting life.

And finally, we pray for the vibrant and life-changing witness of this church to continue proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ in the world. We pray for the All-Church Event on March 22 as an example of our commitment to be your Body of Christ on earth. Teach us, Lord, even when your teaching challenges our cherished assumptions. Even when your message disrupts our lives, teach us. And when you teach us, give us grace to hear you and, even more, to practice in our lives what you preach to us in your Sermon on the Mount.

Forgive us, Lord for the sins that we have done against your will. We confess our deep need for you, our Savior. May your name be made great and your glory shown here today in the name of Christ Jesus who taught us to pray together, “Our Father…”

Benediction

We go out knowing God’s law in our hearts.

May the loving God,

whose presence with us,

love for us,

and strength within us

and grace sufficient for godly living,

blesses us with peace.

Amen.
