Prayer of God’s People

We call upon your name when times are troubled, because it is in you, Christ Jesus that we are saved! May your words live on our lips and in our hearts, so that we might worthily love you and serve you. Guide our worship so that we might hear and speak your word and not the convenient words of the world that tempt us.

O God, we are aware of the presence of evil in our lives and in the world. Every day we are tempted, and most often temptation is nowhere near as glamorous or spectacular as we might suspect. We lift up for your mercy, those in our midst who are in need of your healing and grace. Be with Walter Owyang who is fighting cancer and his grandson Isaiah with a blood bacterial and viral infection. Strengthen their faith in you that all life is in your loving hands. Be with …

We give praise and celebrate the wonderful news of new babies in our church family and pray that Samantha Grace Chen grow up to know you as Lord in her life.

This we ask in the name of the one who resisted temptation by relying on the wisdom of your word, our Lord Jesus Christ who taught us to pray together…”Our Father…”

Benediction

May the courage displayed by Jesus against the devil,

The grounding in scripture that allowed Jesus to stand up to that opponent,

The perseverance that strengthened Jesus in hunger and physical weakness,

And the trust in divine rescue that made it possible for Jesus to endure,
