Flo Chin

One of the ways that Flo ministers to me, and my guess to others, is that she sends greeting cards. Whether it’s my birthday or Easter or even “Pastors Appreciation Day,” Flo would unforgettably send me a card. And in those cards, she would write an encouraging word or a thoughtful message. When I receive one of Flo’s cards, I know that there’s someone out there who thought about me.

Flo is a messenger of good news. She greets you with a greeting card. She not only keeps Hallmark in business but she goes around doing the business of bringing hope in the world. In Genesis, after the flood waters covered the earth, Noah sent out a dove to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground. In the first time, the dove found no place to set its foot and returned to the ark because the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. After waiting for another seven days, Noah again sent the dove from the ark and this time it came back in the evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak. Now Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth (Genesis 8:6-12).

In many ways, Flo is like the dove who tells Noah that the world is good again and that after many long and rainy nights, there is once again dry land and the beginning of new life again. For all of us to find life being good again is really good news. We may have known this when we were a baby or much younger than we are today. But especially when we become older, to know this is truly good news.

I praise God for blessing us with Flo who sends good news like the dove who returns with a freshly plucked olive leaf with the good news of dry land. Flo, may the Lord bless you every day and all the days to come as he has blessed you in these first 60 years of your life.
