We know that since God had his way of bringing a man named Jonathan and a woman named Joyce together, it would be their obligation to name their three boys with J names too. I wonder if they start monogramming their clothes whether they would be able to figure which belongs to whom.
Like the Jacob in the Bible, Jacob Ng will dream of ladders reaching up to heaven where angels are moving up and down in golden sandals and rainbow colored wings. And as the first-born, Jacob will claim that all these toys belong to me.
Like Jonah in the Bible, Jonas Ng will try to run away from delivering a message to Nineveh and just be happy playing on his own. And as the middle child, Jonas would rather be swimming with the big whale.
Like Joshua in the Bible, Joshua Ng will fight many battles and God will even keep the sun up standing still until he wins these fights. And as the last-born, Joshua will discover that fighting is not that great at all but peace in the home is better than anything else.
On this day when we celebrate the life of Joshua Ng and all the “JNs” in this family, let us offer a word of thanks.
Gracious Lord, we praise you for the ladders that let us see what heaven is like, the amazing whales in the sea that reflect your creation, and that you would care for us to the point of stopping the sun so that we may complete our tasks for that day, we thank you for such wonderful miracles. Bless Joshua Ng as he begins his life’s journey of giving praise to you and searching for peace and love in the world. Watch over all of us young and old as we dedicate ourselves to you, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We ask that you bless this food that we are about to enjoy and for our use. In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen.
