{"id":3490,"date":"2004-04-03T10:41:00","date_gmt":"2004-04-03T15:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.followgreg.com\/revdonaldng\/?p=3490"},"modified":"2020-12-27T10:42:48","modified_gmt":"2020-12-27T15:42:48","slug":"spring-forward-mens-fellowship-2004","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.followgreg.com\/revdonaldng\/spring-forward-mens-fellowship-2004\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Forward: Men&#8217;s Fellowship 2004"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Men\u2019s Fellowship-April 3, 2004<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Spring Forward<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For us to press forward toward our goal, we may need to unclutter our lives, remove obstacles, and get into \u201cspring training!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>Carrying Too Many Burdens<\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Numbers 11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 11:10-15\u2014Moses is upset with God for being responsible for so many complaining people. \u201cI am not able to carry all this people alone, for they are too heavy for me.\u201d (Vs.14)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 18-20\u2014God gets angry with his people for complaining and in spite gives them what they want as punishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 16-17 &amp; 24-25\u2014God gives Moses 70 elders to help him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; a. How do you identify with Moses\u2019 burden of handling complaining people?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; b. Name the burdens that you are carrying?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>Cluttered Priorities<\/strong><strong>\u2014Luke 12:13-21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 16-19\u2014The rich fool thought that since his barns were filled to capacity, he can \u201crelax, eat, drink, be merry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 20-21\u2014Jesus sees this as foolish since this kind of life is not rich toward God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; a. What do you have in your garage, attic, safe deposit box, investment portfolios that suggest to you that you can relax, eat, drink, be merry?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; b. How might you unclutter your life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; c. What are the very essential things to make life meaningful to you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>Breaking with the Past and Pressing toward the Goal<\/strong><strong>\u2014Philippians 3:1-16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 7-11\u2014Paul left his past identity which he calls \u201crubbish\u201d so that he may know Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Vs. 12-16\u2014Because Christ made us his own, we strain forward to the \u201cprize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; a. What are \u201cold\u201d things that you want to leave behind as rubbish?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; b.
